Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS announced on 11th July that the Translational Gastroenterology Unit, University of Oxford, has been selected as the awardee in the IBD Stress Test QuickFire Challenge.

The Challenge was designed with the aim to accelerate healthcare innovation to investigate the response of the human immune and gastrointestinal systems to stressors. 

As the awardee of the IBD Stress Test QuickFire Challenge, the University of Oxford team will receive a total of $50,000 in grant funding to further advance its research and access to mentoring from the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies global network of experts.

The team comprised, Dr Carolina Arancibia, Professor Paul Klenerman, Professor Jack Satsangi and Professor Simon Travis and Professor Holm Uhlig.

Dr Carolina Arancibia and Professor Paul Klenerman represented the team at a special award ceremony in London to accept the award on behalf of the Quick Fire Challenge team.

The QuickFire Challenges are managed by Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS, with the aim to address today’s greatest health care challenges. JLABS facilities have incubated more than 420 companies to date, advancing biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer and health tech programs across all JLABS locations: New York City; San Diego; San Francisco; South San Francisco; Boston; Lowell, MA; Houston; Toronto; Beerse, Belgium; Shanghai opening in 2019; and Washington, D.C. opening in 2020.
