braden.jpgProfessor Braden (Vordiplom Chemistry, MD, Habilitation, FEBG) has trained at the University Hospital in Frankfurt /Main in Germany where she worked as clinical lead of the endoscopy unit and the ultrasound unit. She lectures as a professor of Gastroenterology at the University in Frankfurt.

She developed 13C-breath tests using stable isotope techniques for testing various gastrointestinal functions such as gastric emptying, exocrine pancreatic function, liver function and Helicobacter pylori infection.

Since 2008 she has worked as a consultant Gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist in the OUH FH Trust.

Research Interests:

Novel endoscopic techniques for improved detection and endoscopic treatment of early cancer in the upper gastrointestinal tract, also in cooperation with the upper GI surgeons.

In a large cohort of patients with endoscopically treated high grade dysplasia or early cancer in Barrett’s or squamous epithelium we develop individualized and risk adapted therapy stratification, identify risk factors for progression and recurrence and optimize follow-up intervals in regard to cost-effectiveness and patient’s safety.

Combining endoscopic resection with chemotherapy and/or surgery we explore endoscopic treatment options beyond the mucosal layer to optimize outcome and quality of life for the individual patient.

Endoscopic ultrasound enables diagnostic and therapeutic access to the gastrointestinal wall and organs adjacent to the gastrointestinal tract.  We evaluate characteristic EUS features using different sonographic modalities to improve differential diagnosis of hepatopancreatic (neoplastic) diseases

Supported by the hepatobiliary surgeons, we aim to  improve EUS-guided techniques using specially  designed fully covered self-expandable metal stents to  drain pancreatic necrotic fluid collections.
