The Gastroenterology Unit and Hepatology Clinical Trials Facility hosts a team of internationally recognised consultants specialising in inflammatory bowel and hepatobiliary conditions. The facility has excellent links with global decision makers in pharmaceutical companies at both clinical and scientific levels.

The clinical trials facility sits alongside the Gastroenterology and Hepatology daycase unit located on ward 6b of the John Radcliffe hospital.

The facility hosts a large portfolio of work covering both commercial and academic clinical trials. The service is also integrated with colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and transplant surgical units, with involvement in novel surgical therapies including bariatric surgery and small intestinal transplantation.
Clinical trial visits are carried out by our large team of experienced and knowledgeable research nurses and clinical research practitioners.

In-house innovation leads to the development of novel therapeutics, devices, and techniques providing a stream for early phase trials and opportunities for patients to take part in trials that could change the face of future treatment.
