In our projects we aim to characterize the systemic, intestinal and liver immune response in patients with PSC and IBD through a combination of high throughput techniques, including multicolour flow cytometry, CyTOF mass cytometry, molecular biology and in situ analysis. Furthermore, we are using state-of-the-art whole genome shotgun sequencing to investigate both microbiome and patients intestinal transcriptomes and identify novel pathways through which microbial products can influence the host immune function.

This is what we are focusing on right now:

  • Characterization of the mucosal and systemic immune response in patients with IBD and PSC
  • Analysis of the microbiome-host interaction in PSC-IBD using whole genome shotgun sequencing
  • Investigating the gut-vascular barrier in patients with IBD and PSC
