Rory Peters
Clinical Research Fellow
Rory completed undergraduate training in both physiology and medicine at Cardiff University, graduating as a clinical doctor in 2008. In 2013 he was appointed to an Improving Global Health Fellowship, working on a clinical leadership secondment to the Western Cape Department of Health in South Africa. He spent time working with the Tropical Gastroenterology & Nutrition Group in Lusaka, Zambia, before embarking on specialist medical training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Oxford. Since 2017 he has been working in the Barnes group as a clinical research fellow and is currently reading for a DPhil in Clinical Medicine.
Research Interests:
Rory has a keen interest in the immunology of the liver and digestive tract, particularly in relation to mechanisms of immune surveillance and development of autoimmunity. As a CRUK fellow he is currently investigating the predictive potential of the immune microenvironment for early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Rory is also a member of the Oxford/UCLH IgG4-related multi-disciplinary team allowing him to combine clinical and research interests.
