Gaurav Nigam
Clinical Research Fellow
Dr. Gaurav Nigam is a gastroenterology specialist registrar in the Thames Valley (Oxford) deanery. He is currently pursuing an NIHR-funded doctoral research fellowship that focuses on the use of machine learning-based risk prediction tools in gastrointestinal bleeding. He has been the clinical lead for carrying out the 2022 UK acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding audit, which was supported by the British Society of Gastroenterology and NHS Blood and Transplant.
He has participated in multiple research projects and clinical audits, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and several presentations (oral & poster) at national and international conferences. He has been recognised as a young investigator for his work with an award from the American College of Gastroenterology, as well as presidential awards and abstracts of excellence at BSG annual conferences, Digestive Disease Week (DDW), and United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW).
In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Nigam actively contributes to on-call gastroenterology and diagnostic endoscopy services at Oxford University Hospitals.
