Dylan Dissanayake
DPhil student
I am a DPhil student on the Computational Discovery programme, in the Fowler lab and co-supervised by IBM Research. My research is broadly in Machine Learning & Biochemistry - more specifically, I look at developing machine learning methods for predicting drug resistance in pathogens. I have a particular focus on protein structural deep learning, using methods such as graph neural networks to model the bound structure of a drug and its target protein, and learn whether mutations in the protein can perturb this interaction (or have other effects unrelated to binding) potentially leading to drug resistance.
