Dr. Bedawi is a Clinical Academic in Pleural Disease with a research interest in Pleural Infection and Clinical Trials Methodology. His work focuses on the optimal diagnosis and management of pleural infection, intrapleural therapies and translational research into host responses and biomarkers in pleural disease.

He is the Key Investigator on the NIHR HTA funded MIST-4 trial and co-chairs EMPIRE, a European Clinical Research Collaboration focused on translational pleural infection research.

He is the Principal Investigator on a number of national pleural disease trials (IMPACT, OPTICAL, STANDOUT) and supports trial delivery and co-supervisory roles to the Research Fellows within ORTU.
