Experimental Medicine has more than 24 senior staff who hold Honorary Contracts with The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust or are full-time NHS Consultant Staff holding Honorary University contracts with the University of Oxford.

In partnership with the University, the OUHT was selected in 2006 to host one of the NIHR's five comprehensive Biomedical Research Centres (BRC) with a budget in excess of £20 million per annum. 

Experimental Medicine Theme leaders within the BRC include:

  • Prof Paul Klenerman - Gastroenterology and Mucosal Immunity
  • Prof Derrick Crook & Prof. Tim Peto - Antimicrobial Resistance & Modernising Microbiology
  • Professor Ian Pavord - Respiratory

Experimental Medicine also undertakes clinical trials.
