Monique Andersson

Clinical Infection Consultant

Dr Monique Andersson is a Consultant in Clinical Infection at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Oxford and is an Extraordinary Associate Professor of Medical Virology at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. More recently she has taken up a post as senior research fellow in Department of Biomedical Engineering and Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR). After she completed her training in the UK she held an academic post at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa where the focus of her work was hepatitis B virus infection. She returned to the UK in 2015 to work in Oxford. Her interests include complex surgical infections, infections in pregnancy, vaccination, viral infections, infections in the immunocompromised, STIs and developing novel diagnostic technologies for resource poor settings.
