Funding, NIHR and Sponsorship

NHSNational Institute for Health Research

The NIHR stands for National Institute for Health Research. They fund health and care research and translate discoveries into practical products, treatments, devices and procedures, involving patients and the public in all their work. They ensure the NHS is able to support the research of other funders to encourage broader investment in, and economic growth from, health research. They work with charities and the life sciences industry to help patients gain earlier access to breakthrough treatments and they train and develop researchers to keep the nation at the forefront of international research.

UK Clinical Research Network Portfolio of studies

The NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio is part of the UK Clinical Research Network Portfolio of studies, which comprises the network Portfolios for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. These four Portfolios are held on a single information system: the Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS).

Central Portfolio Management System

The Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) is a cloud-based portfolio management system, which has replaced the UKCRN Portfolio and Industry Application Gateway databases.

By transferring our Portfolio from a database to a management system, we can access the life-cycle of studies in a single system for the first time. This puts us in a stronger position to build greater insight and deliver more effective support, both locally and nationally, for clinical research in the NHS.

Funding

The IgG4-RD is a non-commercial study and is part of the NIHR portfolio. It was previously funded by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and the Wellcome Trust.
