Palliative Care

Sobell House 2

Palliative care is the care of people with any progressive, life-limiting illness. Its central tenets are effective symptom management, and psychosocial support of both patients and their families/caregivers. The Palliative Care Research Group is based at Sir Michael Sobell House, Oxford, an 18-bedded specialist palliative care service with outreach services into the community and acute hospitals. Our clinical research programme has strong links within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University. Sir Michael Sobell House is also a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Palliative Care so we have strong national and international links.
